Wood Pellet

Wood pellets are a processed material, although they should still be a ‘pure’ material. Pellets are made from wood waste or sawdust, mostly coming from sawmills.

They are pressed together into a ‘pellet’, which sticks together because of the resin in the wood

Specification

The pellet must remain in tact after a mechanical test.  97.5% of the pellets must survive.

Moisture content low - typically 8 - 10%

Produce low ash - typically 1 - 3%

Be made from ‘clean’ wood - no contaminants

No bark
